The new website is nearly ready
Hi there!
This week I have been promoting the voting round for the Accelerator for Enterprising Women's Kickstarter Challenge and working towards preparing the official website for release.
We are still on track for our November website release. There are lots of pieces moving in the background to make this happen. Early on, I said if there was extra manual work needed to prepare items for the website, I would be happy to do it.
The three brands we have on board so far are Amazon, Petal + Pup and Birdsnest. Birdsnest and Petal + Pup are managed through a hub called Rakuten Advertising, and everything is pretty automated. Amazon runs its own deep-link creation and has no available API to speed up the integration process. This means lots of manual clicking and saving.
The website development team called on me to process the Amazon links, and I was prepared to cancel everything this week to try and get it done.
I turned up to the Griffin Accelerator like a scrambled egg on Monday, and one of the wonderful mentors Craig Davis very kindly reminded me that prioritising your time is not just about what you focus on, but what you choose to leave until next week, too. Where is your true north? Is this time-consuming job that is threatening my sanity offering the most value for potential clients? No? Then let it go to focus on other things which will.
big sigh of relief
I hate feeling like I'm letting anyone down or not working my hardest to do my very best, but there is only one of me. I brought up leaving Amazon out of this integration with the web development team, and they were very understanding!
WIN FOR THE WEEK: INFRA COMPLETE, WEBSITE BEING PREPARED FOR ALGORITHM INTEGRATION
The website backend has been completed! This has been a very time-consuming job for Harshit Gupta, my backend developer. This means now that the website can be introduced to the algorithm, and final touches can be added like updating texts, and then handing the website over to testers.
Some of my wonderful developers: Clockwise from top left: Grant Moran (Algorithm Development), Teresa Wojcik (Founder), Vikash Balu (Frontend Development), Harshit Gupta (Backend Development). Absent Tanya Dixit (Project Manager Web Development).
Would you like to be one of the first to get your hands on the website? I'm looking for more testers! Send me a message if you would like to be involved.
Closely related to contrasts, which I mentioned last week, balance is important. Overall, you want to look evenly proportioned. For example, because my hips and bust are similar sizes, I canNOT wear anything with puffy or frilly sleeves. It makes me look absurdly top-heavy! However, if your hips are larger than your bust, larger sleeves or shoulder pads are your friend. If your bust is larger than your hips, you might try a darker top and emphasising your waist.
Take a step back and look at your shape in the mirror. I don't subscribe to 'hiding' things, but think where can you use clothing to create balance? Do you have those items already in your cupboard? Amazing! If not, next time you go shopping, keep those shapes in mind. It will pay dividends!
