To say that I'm excited is an understatement of the century
Hi there!
Hello to the new subscribers joining the Female Founders: Tradeshow Event on Tuesday! What a great event. I'm always so blown away by how much positive feedback I get for Your Season at events like this.
If you want to catch up on previous newsletters, you can do so here.
I am still working my day job as a private singing teacher while I am starting up this business. I had lots of time over December and January during the holidays to focus solely on Your Season, but now that my teaching schedule has started up again, I am feeling the squeeze to get everything done!
Sometimes days or even weeks will go by, and I still haven't finished "that" job. Fiona, who is rebuilding the front end of the website, pushed some updates to the framework on Monday, and I didn't get to look at them until this morning. That's 4 days!
It's more important than ever for me to have a good overview of timelines and priorities and schedule accordingly. This morning, I did a blitz of all the little jobs that have been floating around in my head - you know, the ones you remember just before you go to bed and think "I'll get to that tomorrow...", and then don't quite manage to get around to it, so I'm feeling a bit better about things.
Yesterday afternoon, I was powering through tasks, and then I had to stop to go to my ballet class. I was VERY tempted to cancel and keep working, but it is important to retain balance in life. Also, I am past 30 now, and my metabolism just isn't as forgiving as it used to be....
Win for the week: WEBSITE IS WITHIN GRASP
Tanja has been working on refining the website mock-ups even further, and when I say I am excited, that is the UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE CENTURY! We agreed it’s the best fake website ever. It still isn't ready to launch, but having the right people in the right jobs makes the process so much smoother and more rewarding. I could never plan such a beautiful website!
I had no luck reaching out to Hang about the colour analysis. I've tried her on several different platforms, and all my messages seem to have gone unread. I have made the difficult decision to redraw the colour analysis competition, and I am pleased to announce that the beautiful Sarah McGoram has won the prize! She has already responded and said she is very excited about the opportunity - her husband came to the Innovation Showcase last December and signed her up. Congratulations, Sarah! I can't wait to hear how it goes!
We have a new affiliate! Last week St. Frock agreed to work with us! This is so exciting! The items still aren't up on the website yet, but I'll let you know as soon as they are!
If you are thinking about getting your colours professionally done - there are plenty of stylists qualified around town! My fave is Fiona Keary (am I biased? Maybe!) from Style Liberation.
Someone asked for links to free tests again. There are plenty of blogs and online tests available, the problem is, that they are not always accurate. I’m sure someone will come up with an accurate online/digital/AI test in the next two years, but we just aren’t quite there yet. One of my favourite tests is colorwise.me. It’s such a clever idea, but the problem? This app gets me wrong about 60+% of the time. I think it gets confused by my multicoloured eyes and the fact that my eyebrows are darker than my hair. Just remember to try a few consecutive tests. And take the results with a grain of salt.
Thanks for reading along! If you can think of anyone interested in joining me on this journey, please invite them to subscribe to the newsletter here.
