Hi there!

Welcome, new subscribers! This last week has been a whirlwind of preparing for the Innovation Showcase 2023 (and being EXHAUSTED afterwards!), finishing up the Griffin Accelerator, and looking at NEXT STEPS.

CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEK: YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO PLEASE EVERYONE

I had such an incredible time at the Innovation Showcase, connecting with the community and putting Your Season out there. There was really positive feedback and lots of interest. I asked my partner, Richard, if he would like to invite his Mum to come along. We both thought she would get a kick out of it.

If you are new to Your Season, and my journey as a founder, there was a very specific reason for this: my partner's Mum, Ping, is the one who started me on this journey.

My partner, Richard and his Mum, Ping.

When we were newly dating, he took me over to visit his parents. This might have been my second time meeting them. Ping made polite small talk, then said 'You dress so PLAIN, you should get your colours done!'

Richard was mortified. I could have been offended, but I took it as an opportunity to explore something I was already curious about - having my colours done.

Long story short, I got my colours done, realised how AMAZING the system was and what benefits it had for me personally, discovered it was hard to find the colours in stores, then went down the MOTHER of all rabbit holes to create this business.

So, here we are, 1.5 years later. We think it will be great to show Ping how much progress I've made.

Her comment? 'You still dress PLAIN!'

So much progress, and yet...you can never please everyone!

WIN FOR THE WEEK: ACQUITTING THE ICON GRANT

I am just finishing up a phase of Your Season's journey. I successfully applied for the ICON Grant earlier this year, to fund the initial colour-sorting algorithm development, MVP website development, and relevant legal costs. This funding was literally life changing. It gave me funding to pay contractors, but also a vote of confidence that this business idea really is viable and worth supporting.

I have lots of things that need to be done, conversations I need to have, admin, thinking, planning, etc. (it never stops - I was just told this week my a mentor that you are usually rewarded for completing a difficult challenge by being given a harder one), but I just want to take some time to acknowledge and celebrate that this week I'm wrapping up a successful development period for the business.

If you can think of anyone who would be interested in joining me on this journey, please invite them to subscribe to the newsletter here.
