Is it a fad?
We have already established in previous posts, that Seasonal Colour Analysis is a complicated system, which, if done professionally is usually expensive. So, how long can you make use of it? Is it something that has to be regularly updated or monitored? Does it change when you get a tan, or colour your hair?
While expensive to have done professionally (if you can't afford it, there are some free test links here, it is considered an investment in your overall wardrobe health, not a trend or fad. It is something that you can make use of for life.
One half of your colours are based on your skin undertone (warm/cool), which will not change. This is also true whether you are tanned or haven't seen the sun for a few months.
The other half is based on the contrast between your hair and skin. As you get older, your colours may soften a bit as the hair naturally greys. You can overcome this by dying your hair close to your natural shade. Or you can lean into it. You will usually stay within the same palette but lean towards the deeper or lighter shades in the palette.
Outside of aging naturally, one aspect that may change your seasonal palette is if you dye your hair a drastically different colour, as this will alter the contrast between your eyes, hair and face. The positive effects of SCA are huge - one appears more put together, successful, powerful, attractive, the list goes on... However, if you are experimenting with lots of different hair colours, it may not be the time to invest in your wardrobe colours. It will quickly become expensive having to change clothing and make-up colours to keep up with your hair colours.
In general, Seasonal Colour Analysis is a wonderful tool for people who want to look as visually harmonious as possible. The system does rely on analysing the undertones of the skin as well as the depth of contrast between hair and eyes, so it is worth being in a settled place in terms of the 'look' you like - whether natural or dyed - before committing to the analysis process. It is not a fad, it's truly an investment in maximising your long-term personal style.
Your Season has clothing organised into all 12 palettes, saving you hours of time searching!
